Out of Studio

Out of Studio is an ongoing series that depicts the makeshift studio of a traveling artist. The still life compositions reference real and constructed locations. Employing artists personal materials, brushes, paints and surfaces as props each work invites the viewer to experience the setting as the artist might; the moment just before putting paint to paper, contemplation and keen attention to the elements around oneself, a preface of satisfactory completion. These poetic conjurings combine watercolor, print, and photography to push a narrative trajectory beyond the original scene. Their reference to memory, place and time are composed and digitally extended in a montage of postproduction.
